Washington courtroom embraces realtime

Technology is aiding Superior Court Judge John Lohrmann, according to the Dec. 3 Union-Bulletin, based in Walla Walla, Wash. Lohrmann receives a realtime feed set up by his court reporter, Linda Latham, who is a participating member of NCRA. Lohrmann, who is interested in modernizing the two courtrooms in the Walla Walla courthouse, told the paper: “It makes court rulings more accurate when I have instant access to the records” and is an efficient method of recalling previous hearings or testimony.

Latham, who was also interviewed for the article, said that providing realtime can be stressful. But it’s a challenge she embraces. ““The better you write, the better it’s going to read,” she says.
