A $1,000 student scholarship has been created by NCRF Trustees and Angel Gatherers Committee members to honor the memory of Gina Battaglia, daughter of Angel Stephanie Zeder Battaglia, RMR, CRR, a freelance court reporter from Hinsdale, Ill.
Gina passed away unexpectedly in October 2022. Stephanie’s Facebook practice colleagues and other court reporting friends started a fundraiser to honor Gina’s memory. She also is now an NCRF Memorial Angel.
The Gina Battaglia Memorial Student Intern Scholarship is intended to help an NCRA student member who has been an intern in the past 12 months. Applicants must be nominated by their court reporting programs and must also submit a letter of recommendation and an essay. Judicial, CART, and captioning students are encouraged to apply. The deadline is March 31. See scholarship page for full eligibility and submission details.
This grant means so much to the Battaglia family. Stephanie, who is already an NCRF Angel, expresses her thanks:
Colleagues, aspiring students, friends:
As many of you know, my daughter Gina was taken tragically from my family in October 2022. While the pain of the loss of my beloved daughter can never be fixed, the outpouring of support and love that came from my court reporting family was truly humbling and comforting.
Not only did Gina love dogs, but she also loved being a hard-working mom, business owner, and member of the community. She was always the first to give a helping hand to anyone in need.
To have a scholarship in her name will continue her quest to see people achieve their dreams. When I became a part of the NCRF Angel Fund, I thought we were the angels helping others. It wasn’t until now that I realized who the true angels are.
This scholarship will continue to let my daughter’s wings fly. I’m so beyond touched by the outpouring and generosity of those who donated. Keep reaching for your goals. Make your time on this earth count.
