NCRA launched an initiative to bring awareness to court reporting and captioning that asked state associations and firms to add a button to their web pages linking to the DiscoverSteno homepage, where people can learn more about the profession or enroll in one of the NCRA A to Z® Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand programs.
To incentivize this important effort, NCRA entered all those who participated into a random drawing for prizes. Recipients were announced at NCRA’s Conference in Houston. The winners are:
· 1st Place: One free registration to the 2024 NCRA Conference & Expo in Louisville, Ky., was awarded to the Massachusetts Court Reporters Association
· 2nd Place: One free 2024 NCRA membership was awarded to a member on behalf of Huney-Vaughn Court Reporters, Ltd. of Des Moines, Iowa
· 3rd Place: One free Skills Test registration was awarded to the Colorado Court Reporters Association
The second-place winner, Huney-Vaughn Court Reporters, awarded the yearlong membership to Jane Weingard. When asked what a year’s membership to NCRA means to her, Weingard, a freelance court reporter from Iowa, wrote “I have enjoyed being an NCRA member and built my career through NCRA for over 50 years. Because our national association is strong, our state association is also strong.”
