The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) is pleased to announce the Steno Matters podcast hosted by 2023-24 NCRA President Kristin M. Anderson, M.A., RPR, CSR, FCRR. The inaugural episode, which will replace Town Halls hosted by NCRA’s president, is scheduled to be recorded next month and exclusively available in NCRA’s Learning Center in October.

The aim of this podcast is to provide a new, cutting-edge platform to help further inform, mobilize, and inspire the entire court reporting, captioning, and legal videography communities. NCRA members will still be able to submit questions via email to president@ncra.org using the subject line ‘Steno Matters question’ or post it on social media using the hashtag #StenoMatters. Episodes of Steno Matters will be made available to members via email and NCRA’s social media accounts.

Steno Matters will be hosted by Kristin M. Anderson, M.A., RPR, CSR, FCRR, a proud Texan and court reporter who is serving as NCRA’s President for the 2023-24 term. At her installation ceremony in Houston, Anderson invited members to make every connection matter and to continue prioritizing the integrity and dedication NCRA members are known for. “Our army of steno advocates is small but mighty;” President Anderson stated. “We achieve more working together to promote and protect it. This also means stepping outside our comfort zones and having hard discussions with decision-makers, stakeholders, and the public.”

A recent study by Edison Research shows that 51 percent of Americans over the age of 12 have listened to podcasts. That accounts for 144 million millennial and Gen Z listeners in the United States alone. The study also reported that 197 million Americans have heard about podcasts, meaning over 70 percent of Americans are familiar with the podcasting concept.

The outline for Steno Matters’ first episode will be to recap two speeches from the 2023 NCRA Conference and Expo in Houston, Texas; Executive Director Dave Wenhold, CAE, PLC, and the inaugural address of 2023-24 NCRA President Kristin Anderson, M.A., RPR, CSR, FCRR.

Members can submit their questions or comments to the Steno Matters podcast to president@ncra.org.
