New proctoring process for Online Skills Testing to start January 2024

Exciting changes are coming to NCRA’s Online Skills Testing platform. In response to feedback from testing candidates, NCRA is pleased to announce that beginning January 2024 Online Skills Testing will be offered with a self-launching proctoring process that puts candidates in the driver’s seat for their entire testing process without a live proctor. Candidates will also have more flexibility in scheduling their testing appointments.

“We are excited to be able to offer this change to our current process for proctoring as it will provide ease of access and testing to anyone taking NCRA tests,” said Cynthia R. Bruce, M.S.Ed., Senior Director, NCRA Education and Certification Department.

The new proctoring system will walk candidates through an automated process where they will self-authenticate by capturing their photo ID. This will result in their entire authentication and testing appointment being recorded. Upon completion, all testing sessions will be reviewed by proctors and flagged for review by NCRA staff if there are any security concerns for the appointment.

The Certification and Testing Team is happy to be launching this change which aims to remove many of the challenges that candidates have faced with the current live proctoring process. “Our team spent a great deal of time researching testing and proctoring systems and are confident that the vendor we have chosen will provide the highest quality and service to NCRA members,” added Bruce.

Stay tuned for additional details that will be posted at NCRA.org/SKT closer to the January 2024 SKT registration period taking place December 1-20.
