Celebrate the profession with an official proclamation

NCRA members and state affiliates, now is the perfect time to reach out to your state leaders to secure an official proclamation recognizing Feb. 3-10 as 2024 Court Reporting & Captioning Week. States that send a copy of their official proclamation to pr@ncra.org will be entered into a drawing to win a 2024 NCRA Conference & Expo registration. The deadline to submit official proclamations is Fri., Feb. 16. The winner will be announced in the Feb. 21 JCR Weekly.

Congratulations to the Alabama Court Reporters Association for being the first state to submit an official proclamation signed by Gov. Kay Ivey recognizing the week.

“A neat way to help promote the profession during Court Reporting & Captioning Week is to secure official proclamations from state and local officials recognizing the event and the essential services we provide to the legal field and public,” NCRA President Kristin M. Anderson, M.A., RPR, FCCR, an official court reporter from Denton, Texas, said. “Last year our members secured proclamations in more than two dozen states. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this year we could secure one from each state especially since we are also celebrating NCRA’s 125th Anniversary,” she added.

NCRA’s 2024 Court Reporting & Captioning Week marks the 12th year this event has taken place and coincides with the Association’s 125th Anniversary. The theme for 2024; 125 years of accuracy and integrity.

Be sure to visit the 2023 Court Reporting & Captioning Week resources page to find the latest in logos, press release templates, social media messages and tips, and more.

As part of this year’s celebration, NCRA’s Communications Team will be distributing a series of press releases and media advisories that showcase the history of stenographic court reporting and how far the profession has come in conjunction with the Association’s 125th Anniversary. If you have a story you would like to share about the state of the profession and how far it’s come, please send your ideas or articles to pr@ncra.org.

We are also looking for recognition from judges about the important role our members play in their courtrooms. If your judge or a judge you know or even an attorney you work with is interested in being interviewed for an article in the JCR Weekly that will run during Court Reporting & Captioning Week, please send their information to pr@ncra.org. A headshot would also be appreciated.

And, remember please share with us how you plan to showcase the profession so that we can spread the celebration throughout the community by including the hashtag #CRCW2024 on your social media posts.
