The benefits of belonging

As has been reported over the past several months, the NCRA Board approved a motion calling for a dues adjustment that would take effect in 2026. The proposed adjustments are $30 for Registered and Participating members, $15 for Participating or Registered International members, $18 for Associate members, and $15 for Associate International members, the first increase in membership dues since 2020. There would be no increase in the membership costs for Students.

The dues adjustment will be discussed during the Annual Business Meeting being held July 24 at the 2025 NCRA Conference & Expo taking place July 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn., and voting on the proposed change in dues will follow within two hours after the end of the meeting. As the date for this important vote draws closer, it is important that members understand exactly what their NCRA membership dues support.

Your dues represent the importance you place on belonging to a professional association dedicated to serving you. Your dues provide you with the ability to access numerous and exclusive benefits and services such as advocating for you and your jobs at the state and local level, the latest industry news and information, resources to help you grow your business and professional skills, networking opportunities, nationally recognized professional certifications, educational events, and programing.

Your dues also support the organization’s operating costs of running the business known as NCRA. Without dues that keep up with inflation, there simply would be no NCRA.

When you pay your dues to support NCRA you are demonstrating your commitment to the Association’s mission, goals, and values – a commitment that can serve to sponsor a stronger sense of community and encourage others to join and participate. It also shows your commitment to protecting the profession’s interests as well as the interests of your fellow members.

Please show your support for the future of NCRA and the stenographic court reporters, captioners, students, and legal videography professionals it represents by voting yes on July 24 for a dues adjustment. Through everyone’s support, we can build a stronger community and better protect our future and the future of those coming up in the professions. For less than 10 cents a day you can ensure the future of your professional association.
