The NCRA Annual Business Meeting was held Thursday, July 24, at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, Minn. Members who were not able to attend the meeting in person were able to follow the discussions via live video or review the video and transcript after the fact. As provided for in the Bylaws, all NCRA Voting Members were able to vote online. Voting closed at 1:30 p.m. Central, July 25.
A total of 1151 members voted.
The proposed dues increase, which required a simple majority to pass, will go into effect Jan. 1, 2026, as voted on by the membership: 629 (55.5%) voting for and 505 (44.5%) voting against.
This year three amendments to the Association’s Constitution and Bylaws were proposed.
PASSED – Amendment #1: Since all communication is online, the Constitution and Bylaws Committee suggested a revision to Article VIII, Section 3, “Preparation of the Slate of Nominees,” (c), which would reduce the petition window to get on the ballot for election dates from 60 days to 45 days.
- For 855 (88.1%); Against 116 (11.9%)
PASSED – Amendment #2: The Constitution and Bylaws Committee suggested a further revision to Article VIII, Section 3, (f) to offer clearer instructions on deadlines around the preparation of the slate of nominees.
- For 851 (91.4%); Against 80 (8.6%)
FAILED – Amendment #3: Fifteen (15) eligible NCRA members proposed a revision to allow voice writers to be a part of the Association.
- For 575 (53.2%); Against 505 (46.8%)
The full text of the amendments was published for all members in the JCR and is available online. To pass, Bylaw amendments must receive at least two-thirds (2/3) affirmation by the Voting Members who voted by electronic means.
