Advocating for our profession is one of the pillars of the National Court Reporters Association’s mission. NCRA’s Government Relations Department and the National Court Reporters Foundation invite students to participate in this mission by applying for the NCRF Linda Breech Memorial Advocacy Scholarship. The scholarship provides full registration for one eligible student to attend NCRA’s annual Leadership & Legislative Boot Camp. Travel expenses and accommodation are to be paid by the student awardee.
The NCRA Leadership & Legislative Boot Camp, taking place March 1-3 in Alexandria, Va., and Washington, D.C., is an immersive, hands-on experience for members to build and exercise their advocacy skills. Attendees participate in sessions and training, real-life scenarios and mock meetings, and have the chance to visit Capitol Hill to meet with their elected representatives and staff.
“This scholarship aims to celebrate Linda’s legacy by recruiting the next generation of effective advocates for court reporting, captioning, and legal videography,” State Government Relations Manager Colin Brehm said.
The scholarship is in memory of Linda Breech, RPR (Ret.), a dedicated court reporter who served as an official reporter for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Los Angeles, Calif., for nearly two decades and later freelanced in the metro Denver, Colo., area. A passionate advocate for court reporting, Linda’s commitment inspires countless colleagues and students.
Application Requirements:
- A copy of the student’s most recent transcript from an NCRA-approved school
- Proof of NCRA membership in good standing
- A valid voter registration confirmation for the student’s current address
- Completed application form
