Apply by Nov. 3 for Stenograph scholarship worth $5000 in tuition, writer, software, and more

Don’t miss your chance to apply for the Stenograph Milton H. Wright Memorial Scholarship, offered for the second time this year through the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF). This merit-based scholarship honoring Stenograph’s founder provides the winner with material support during their schooling, including an award worth $5,000 in tuition plus the use of a student writer, software, and other Stenograph benefits.

“We are thrilled to offer the Stenograph scholarship for the second time this year,” says the NCRF Chair Doug Friend, FAPR, RDR, CRR (Ret.). “This is our most generous scholarship, and the incredible response from students last time — 26 applications before the deadline — shows how motivated and passionate the next generation of court reporters truly is. Supporting their education and success is at the heart of NCRF’s mission.”

“We’re proud to offer this scholarship as part of our commitment to supporting the next generation of talent and fostering growth within our industry,” says Thaly Palanisamy, president of Stenograph. “By investing in education and opportunity, we are helping to ensure a strong and sustainable future for stenographers.”

To be eligible to apply, students must have an exemplary academic record, have passed at least one skills test writing 90 wpm or higher, and write an essay. Details and an application can be found on the scholarship web page. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Stenograph has worked closely with the Foundation for many years, including sponsoring the annual NCRF Stenograph writer raffle each year, which serves as a great resource that allows the Foundation to deliver its awards and outreach program.

If you previously applied for the spring Stenograph Scholarship, your application and essay will automatically be forwarded to the new judging pool. You only need to email your most recent academic transcript to jlandsman@ncra.org and indicate that you are a prior applicant who wants to be considered for the fall scholarship. Thank you to those students who have already responded.
