Feb 11 | Steno Habits: The Science of Building Skills that Stick | Presenters: Lee Leigh (Lili), RPR, CRI; Chris DeGrazio; Rich Germosen, FAPR, RDR, CRR; and Alecia Madison (0.0 CEU)
In of 2026 Court Reporting & Captioning Week, the NCRA Student/Teacher Committee presents “Steno Habits: The Science of Building Skills that Stick.” This webinar, free for members, dives into the science of habit formation and how it applies directly to court reporting students. “Habits are automatic behaviors that kick in when certain cues appear in our environment,” says presenter Lee Leigh, RPR, CRI, an official from Madison, Wisc. “Once a habit is established, it takes far less mental effort to carry out, which frees up your brain for more demanding tasks.”
“It’s easy, if not effortless, to develop bad habits or habits that don’t serve us and/or our goals,” says presenter Chris DeGrazio, a freelancer from Fort Pierce, Fla. “Come learn alongside us as we explore how to develop and adhere to better habits that can turn our goals into accomplishments.”Success goes beyond just developing good habits, says Alecia Madison, a freelancer from Atlanta, Ga. “It all comes down to how bad you want it. If you want to succeed as badly as you want to breathe, you will be successful. Don’t let nothing stop you. Come join us and learn how to improve every single day.”
“Improve a little bit each day with consistent and focused daily practice.”

Feb 18 | Memory Power | Presenter: Paul Mellor (0.10 CEU)
A sharp memory isn’t a gift; it’s a skill. Paul Mellor, USA Memory Championship finalist, author, and marathoner, presents “Memory Power” with effective techniques to help you organize your thoughts and finally remember every name in the room. From finding your keys to eliminating absent-mindedness, you’ll learn how to organize your thoughts for maximum impact. Remember: When your memory gets better, everything else does too.
“Memory is an important topic,” says presenter Paul Mellor. “When you think about it, we’ve been using our brains our entire lives, yet for many of us, we’ve never been taught how to use our heads.” Memory is a skill, he says. “It’s no different than learning to ride a bike or drive a car. A trained brain can be developed, helping us to recall facts, remember a name, and to be more productive at work.”
