Acknowledge your peers who have given back so much

There is no greater honor than that of being recognized by your peers, and that’s exactly what earning membership in the Fellows of the Academy of Professional Reporters (FAPR) means. Help celebrate your peers who have given back to the profession by nominating them for the class of 2026 by Feb. 28.

“Becoming an NCRA Fellow is one of the highest honors a member can receive,” said Doug Friend, FAPR, RDR, CRR (Ret.), from Vancouver, Wash., and chair of the Council of the Academy of Professional Reporters.

“This award is a testament to many years — sometimes decades! — of diligent effort, collaboration, and accomplishment for the betterment of stenography. Those of us who serve on the Council look forward to seeing all your nominations,” he added.

Becoming a FAPR is a mark of deep respect and professional distinction conferred upon an NCRA member of outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience in the field of verbatim stenographic reporting and/or stenographic captioning. Candidates for Fellowship are required to have been in the active practice of reporting/captioning for at least 15 years. Criteria for nomination include the publication of important papers, legislative or creative contributions to the field, and service on committees or boards.
