Louisiana corruption case highlights need for more court reporters

WAFB in Baton Rouge, La., reports that the state’s court reporting shortage has recently become a focal point in an ongoing Baton Rouge Police Department (BPRD) corruption case. BPRD attorneys say they should be given more time to challenge a district judge’s decision because of a delay in receipt of court transcripts needed to file the challenge. In their motion, the attorneys attribute that delay to the 19th Judicial District Court’s court reporter shortage.
