Jeanette Dundee, a student from Colorado Springs, Colo., is the winner of our latest NCRA member recruitment campaign. A student at Cuyahoga Community College, Dundee received a $100 Amazon gift card for joining in the month of March. “NCRA membership means being part of a community that understands the dedication and discipline this profession requires,” Dundee replied when asked what NCRA membership means to her. “As a newer student, it gives me a sense of belonging and connection to people who have already walked this path I’m on.”
Drawn to the legal field at an early age, Dundee eventually learned about stenography through the NCRA A to Z® Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program. She felt that the combination of language and precision was perfectly matched to her own strengths and interests. “So far in the learning process I’ve come to appreciate not only the immense skill involved, but also the responsibility and impact of creating an accurate record. It’s a career that offers a clear path for growth as well as engages and challenges me.”
What’s next for Dundee? She’s planning on heading to the NCRA Conference & Expo in Bellevue, Wash., this summer. “The resources, advocacy, and encouragement I’ve found through NCRA and seasoned court reporters keep me motivated to keep pushing in my studies,” she says. “I’m very excited to attend the NCRA Conference this year and experience that on an even larger scale.”
