From a career in arts administration to a profession built on language and precision, Jenna Hinkle, RPR, CRR, an official from Colorado Springs, Colo., found her calling in court reporting. JCR | How did you learn about the court reporting profession, and what inspired you to become a court reporter?
JH | I was looking for a career change from arts administration. I’ve always been fascinated by the criminal justice field, and I found court reporting after some research. I love reading, words, and I love to be involved in my community and doing important work. I am also a cellist and so I enjoy creating things with my hands, so it felt like a transition that made sense for me. I was motivated by the challenge of learning steno and using my skills to create and protect the record!
JCR | What does NCRA membership mean to you?
JH | It means that I have the credentials, support, and education to be the best stenographer I can be. I love being a part of this amazing community and it truly is the gold standard.
JCR | What motivated you to renew your membership early this year?
JH | I love to get things done as soon as I can and it felt like the right thing to do.
