Darlene Parker was the sixth person in the country to become a broadcast captioner. Since 1984, she has worked at the National Captioning Institute as a captioner and a supervising captioner, and since 2007, she has been the director of steno captioning and realtime relations. NCI is headquartered in Chantilly, Va.
