California bill prevents courts from contracting out services

An editorial in the Merced (Calif.) Sun-Star called on the California governor to veto Assembly Bill 556 that places restrictions on contracting by the state’s courts. According to the editorial, courts would not be able to contract out for court reporting, security, janitorial services, or other services.
