Illinois county soon could be in need of court reporters

A recent article in the Quincy (Ill.) Herald-Whig notes that there may be several open positions for court reporters in the next few years as many current staff members are expected to retire. According to the article, there are 14 full-time positions in the Adams County Courts, and officials expect half of the court reporters to retire in the next three to five years. Because court reporting positions require such an unusual set of skills and the dearth of court reporting students, county officials say it may not be easy to fill those spots.
