Editorial calls for keeping court data secure

A recent editorial in The Post and Courier of South Carolina supports a $6 million budget request for new technology and training to improve security and an additional $1.5 million a year to operate a digital system for securing court records. State Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal, who has made the budget request, recently told a state panel that “recurring funds of this type are going to be part of everybody’s budget as you move toward electronic systems.”
