Captioning the FIFA World Cup

On June 11, Media Access Australia published a blog post about captioning the FIFA World Cup. Excluding only live games that fall entirely between midnight and 6 a.m. local time, the media company is captioning 320 hours of coverage. Logistical planning comprised of allowing for possible extra time and penalty shoot-outs, dealing with three time zones, and building dictionaries to include the names of 750 players, coaching staff, past players, venues, commentators, club names, and so on.
