Shortage of court reporters in British Virgin Islands courts

Officials from both the Magistrates’ Court and the Supreme Court of the British Virgin Islands are asking for additional staffers to help address an increased workload, according to an article posted Jan. 19 by The BVI Beacon, based on the 2015 Standing Finance Committee report. The article notes that acting Supreme Court Registrar Erica Smith-Penn said that her department could use two more court reporters and a scopist.
