Congratulations to Theresa Salsberry, RPR, of Kingman, Ariz., and Glenda Kaufman, RPR of Minneapolis, Minn., as they are the two winners of a drawing of those members who renewed their NCRA membership in the month of October. Theresa has won a $200 Amazon gift card and Glenda wins the $100 Pengad gift card donated by Pengad.
After learning about a career as a court reporter during her senior year of high school, Kaufman said the transition was seamless. “The profession sounded interesting and challenging! I loved to type and play the piano and thought court reporting was something I could do well.” Since then, she has found her professional stenographic court reporter colleagues to be the most rewarding aspect of her work: “We can share our good days, our stress and frustration, get advice, and share information on many topics,” she said.
“I’m very proud of being a member of NCRA … [they have] connected me with court reporters in my state and around the country that I would not have met,” Kaufman added. “I would highly recommend colleagues join NCRA because of these benefits and the great networking opportunities.”
Salsberry entered the career of court reporting after a friend enrolled in court reporting school and found it to be interesting. “I ended up enrolling in school not long after that and have been working mostly as an official court reporter for over 25 years now,” said Salsberry. When it came to naming the most rewarding aspect of her career, Salsberry said it had to be doing realtime for her judge, adding “It’s a constant challenge, but it’s also rewarding!”
“[NCRA] keeps us apprised of things changing in our industry and also keeps us informed as to what is happening in our profession.” said Salsberry. “I would recommend joining NCRA.”
