Online Skills Testing: Important updates to procedures and requirements

In our continued effort to improve and refine Online Skills Testing, new requirements are taking effect May 1, 2023. We want to ensure you are aware of the requirements so you can be successful and fully prepared for the May Online Skills Testing period.

Beginning with the May Online Skills Testing period, candidates must use the Guardian Browser to connect to their ProctorU proctoring session for their NCRA Online Skills Tests. Guardian is a secure browser created by Meazure Learning, the company that created the ProctorU Platform NCRA uses for remote proctoring services.

The new Guardian Browser eliminates compatibility issues with our testing and proctoring platform, is easier to support and troubleshoot, and provides quick assistance through highly visible buttons to reach chat support and help articles.

Guardian Browser presents a clean and secure channel to access our Skills Tests without requiring additional complicated extensions to assist candidates, and it provides a secure testing environment.

Additionally, Guardian Browser is compatible with JAWS and NVDA for Windows and VoiceOver for Mac, allowing candidates with visual accommodations to test successfully. Download the Guardian browser from Meazure Learning prior to your testing appointment.

NCRA is also instituting mandatory use of wired headphones for all Skills Tests effective with our May 1-20, 2023, testing period. The headphone requirement helps to ensure that test audio is heard in the best environment and aids in test security. No Bluetooth headphones are permitted.

Be sure to visit the new SKT Information Center for complete testing requirements and instructions. We look forward to seeing you on our newly certified list soon!
