Learn and earn (CEUs, that is)

Whether you need to earn CEUs before your Cycle End Date of Sept. 30 or are just looking to learn something new, the NCRA Learning Center has what you are looking for: Live and on-demand webinars, article and book tests, certification education, and more.

Live webinars

Two new live webinars are on tap for September with more scheduled throughout the rest of the year. Remote depositions and online learning are here to stay, and NCRA can help you navigate the challenges. On Sept. 20 Hector Cordova, CLVS, and Alan Peacock, FAPR, RDR, CRR, CRC, present Audio and Video Settings to Make the Most of Your Remote Depositions. “Members attending the session will learn tips to help them create the ultimate remote (Zoom) experience,” says Peacock, who has been captioning for over 30 years.

On Sept. 27 NCRA offers a webinar for educators struggling with the “distance” between teaching and learning in an online environment: Taking the Distance Out of Distance Education presented by Robyn M. Hennigan, RPR, CRI, and Rene Eneix, M. Ed., CRI. “Teaching the skill of stenography in a distance education environment has many challenges,” says Hennigan. “Rene and I hope to share some thoughtful strategies to help overcome these challenges and create teaching/learning experiences that both educators and students alike enjoy and benefit from.” Current court reporting instructors can email schools@ncra.org for a discount code

On-demand webinars

NCRA has recently added 22 of the most popular sessions from the 2023 Conference & Expo, so if there were sessions you missed or if you weren’t able to make it to Houston to attend them live, now is your chance to catch them on demand. See what’s new! Of course we’ve also got an entire library of other on-demand webinars as well covering the latest in topics like technology, cybersecurity, social media, NCRA STRONG, and more.

Article and book tests

Article tests are brief articles followed by short, multiple-choice tests. Some research may be required to answer the questions. Book tests are multiple choice tests on books approved by the Council of the Academy of Professional Reporters (CAPR) for continuing education units.

Certification education

The NCRA Learning Center has a robust selection of certification education programs including certification workshops, practice and speedbuilding skills tests, and the NCRF Career Launcher program.

Other ways to earn

NCRA offers many other continuing education opportunities. Members can attend pre-approved events, learn CPR, transcribe oral histories, or participate in the NCRA Virtual Mentor Program. Visit Ways to Earn Continuing Education for a complete list and further details.

Cycle extensions

If you need a four-month cycle extension (to Jan. 31) to finish those last CEUs, you can fill out the CEU extension request form by Sept. 30. Note that the deadline to complete CEUs or to request an extension is the same date.

If you have any questions, need assistance with identifying upcoming continuing education opportunities, or need help checking your CEU status, please contact our Credentialing Coordinator at continuinged@ncra.org or 800-272-6272.
