The NCRA Learning Center is your destination for professional development, whether you’re seeking to complete your CEUs before the September 30 Cycle End Date or simply want to expand your knowledge. The Learning Center offers a wide range of resources, including live and on-demand webinars, article and book tests, and certification education.
Two new live webinars are on tap in the Learning Center this month. On Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. Eastern, James De La Torre, CRPC, an expert in employee benefits and retirement planning, presents Taking Control: Financial Strategies for Women(0.15 CEU). Topics include maintaining good credit, insuring against unexpected events, investing, building a retirement nest egg, maximizing Social Security benefits, and financial challenges that stem from events such as divorce and widowhood. Register.
On Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. Eastern, educators Danielle Green; Kelly Moranz, CRI; and Robyn Hennigan, RPR, CRI, present Helping Students Over the Hill (0.1 CEU), which explores strategies for helping students overcome learning plateaus. During the presentation, you’ll discover practical tools to reignite motivation, enhance growth, and support continuous progress in the classroom. Educators at NCRA-approved court reporting programs may attend for free, and other educators can receive a $30 discount code. Email schools@ncra.org for the appropriate code. Register.
On-demand webinars
On-demand webinars represent the most convenient way to earn CEUs when and where you need them. On-demand webinars feature recorded videos and downloadable handout materials and allow you to access the best presentations from past NCRA events and live webinars. The NCRA Learning Center hosts an entire library covering the latest topics like technology, cybersecurity, grammar tips, financial wellness, and more.
Article and book tests
Article tests are brief articles followed by short, multiple-choice tests. Some research may be required to answer the questions. Book tests are multiple-choice tests on books approved by the Council of the Academy of Professional Reporters (CAPR) for professional development credits (PDCs). Remember, you may only earn 1.0 PDC per cycle toward your continuing education requirements.
Certification education
The NCRA Learning Center has a robust selection of certification education programs including certification workshops, practice and speedbuilding skills tests, and the NCRF Career Launcher program.
Other ways to earn
NCRA offers many other continuing education opportunities. Members can attend preapproved events, learn CPR, transcribe oral histories, or participate in the NCRA Virtual Mentor Program. Visit Ways to Earn Continuing Education for a complete list and further details.
Cycle extensions
If you need a four-month cycle extension (to Jan. 31) to finish those last CEUs, you may fill out the CEU extension request form by Sept. 30. Note that the deadline to complete CEUs or to request an extension is the same date.
If you have any questions, need assistance with identifying upcoming continuing education opportunities, or need help checking your CEU status, please contact our Credentialing Coordinator at continuinged@ncra.org or 800-272-6272.
