Fall is scholarship season: 25 scholarships worth more than $28K available

With fall in full swing, students are facing a new semester of classes, books, and bills. To help ease that financial burden, NCRA and NCRF are here to help with 25 scholarships open to students now through the beginning of December. We are offering more than $28,000 in scholarships to court reporting and captioning students. Check out the complete list of scholarships and requirements below.

NCRF A to Z® Scholarships – 15 awards

Open to students who have completed an NCRA A to Z® Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program and are enrolled in a stenographic machine court reporting program.

  • Deadline: Sept. 30
  • Awards: Fifteen $750 scholarships
  • Speed requirement: One skills test between 60-160 wpm

NCRA CASE Student Scholarships– five awards

Open to NCRA student members currently attending an NCRA-approved court reporting program.

  • Deadline: Sept. 30
  • Awards: $1,500, $1,000, $750, $500, and $250 scholarships
  • Speed requirement: One skills test writing 160 wpm or above
  • Written essay
  • Letter of recommendation

Stenograph Milton H. Wright Memorial Scholarship  one award

Open to student members enrolled in a formal court reporting program. Previous applicants’ applications and essays will automatically be forwarded to the new judging pool. You only need to email your most recent academic transcript to jlandsman@ncra.org and indicate that you are a prior applicant who wants to be considered for the fall scholarship.

  • Deadline: Nov. 3
  • Award: $5,000, student writer and software, and more
  • Speed requirement: One skills test writing 90 wpm or above
  • Written essay

NCRF Student Intern Scholarships four awards

Open to NCRA student memberswho have been interning in a court reporting or captioning role within the past 12 months.

  • Deadline: Dec. 5
  • Awards: Four $2,000 scholarships
  • Speed requirement: One skills test writing 180 wpm or above (or 160 wpm literary if in a CART or captioning program)
  • Written essay
  • Letter of recommendation
