Looking to earn a free NCRA student membership?

Did you know that court reporting students can earn a free annual NCRA membership through the Student Initiative Program? To qualify, students need to complete any two oral histories from either the NCRF Veterans History Project or Legal Aid History Project.  Be sure to follow the specific guidelines.

The  VHP is the first of several oral history projects that NCRF and NCRA members have supported through NCRF’s expanded Oral Histories Program. Since 2003 NCRA members who volunteer their services have worked with NCRF and the Library of Congress to record and transcribe the moving stories of many U.S. veterans and Gold Star Families, building a lasting legacy of the diverse group of men and women who have served our nation.

The Legal Aid History Project is the result of an agreement between the Connecticut Bar Foundation (CBF) and NCRF and is dedicated to preserving the legal profession’s history of serving Americans who need legal representation. In April 2021 NCRF entered into a new agreement with the CBF for NCRA members to transcribe the oral histories of its leaders. The agreement provides NCRF and NCRA members the opportunity to aid the CBF in protecting and preserving the rich and extensive history of women in the legal profession, attorneys of color, and legal aid in the state of Connecticut.

Please contact NCRF Director Jill Parker Landsman at jlandsman@ncra.org for more information about these opportunities.
