Who Can Recommend Candidates?

Only voting members of NCRA can submit individuals for candidacy. This includes Participating Members, Registered Members, Retired Members, Retired Lifetime Members, and Honorary Members who have been verbatim stenographic reporters and/or stenographic captioners.

Board service is uncompensated and requires significant time commitments. Most expenses involved in Board service are reimbursable.

Service as an Officer

Positions on the Executive Committee of the Board are typically filled by those who have served or are currently serving on the NCRA Board. With NCRA’s membership of nearly 10,000 members and a budget of almost $5 million, it is crucial for candidates to have experience as a director to understand and fulfill the responsibilities of these roles.

The Election Process

The Nominating Committee, as outlined in the Constitution and Bylaws, meets at least 90 days prior to the annual election to create a slate of nominees for the following offices:

  • President-Elect
  • Vice President
  • Secretary-Treasurer
