The National Court Reporters Foundation’s highest honor recognizes the devotion and commitment recipients demonstrate to their profession and their community. The Jim Bouley Family Lifetime Award for Altruism nominations are now open to honor a member whose legacy is built on giving back without seeking recognition.
The award was created in 2021 when the Bouley family children chose to donate to NCRF in honor of their father, who was an exemplary role model as a court reporter, instructor, and philanthropist. To be eligible, nominees must be working court reporters or captioners with a minimum of 25 years of experience and a proven track record of altruistic behavior and self-sacrifice. The deadline to submit nominations is May 1.
2025 Altruism Award recipient
The 2025 Jim Bouley Family Lifetime Award for Altruism was awarded to Debbie Kriegshauser, FAPR, RMR, CRR, CRC, CLVS, an official court reporter from Dallas, Texas. The announcement was made at a special awards luncheon at the 2025 NCRA Conference & Expo. Kriegshauser is a tireless volunteer and a steadfast advocate for the profession.
“Debbie is the epitome of someone who gives her all for others, not looking for reward in return,” wrote Melanie L. Humphrey-Sonntag, FAPR, RDR, CRR, CRC, an official court reporter from Cheyenne, Wyo., in her letter of nomination for Kriegshauser.
“If NCRA had 100 Debbies, they would increase their presence 10,000-fold,” wrote Mark W. Hagood, owner of Q&A Court Reporting in Florence, S.C. “I could fill an entire page and more with stories I can attest to of Debbie’s unwavering support for someone in need or recognizing a special day or event in someone else’s life, at times traveling miles and miles to accomplish that goal,” Hagwood added.
