JCR | How did you hear about court reporting?
CN | My high school class went on a field trip to court. While the case was very interesting, I was most fascinated by the court reporter and her role in the courtroom. I got more information on the career, and I knew it was the perfect fit for me.
JCR | Why did you want to serve on the Board?
CN | Board service is an opportunity to give back to a profession that has given me so much. Serving in this capacity allows me to contribute to shaping the future of the Association and the field. I am passionate about ensuring the profession continues to thrive and evolve for the next generation. It is a way to share the experiences I have gained over the course of my career, while also learning from other members and leaders. Ultimately, it is a privilege to serve in a role where my contributions can help sustain and enrich a profession that has profoundly enriched my own life.
JCR | What’s one thing that people probably don’t already know about you?
CN | Most people are surprised to learn that I cofounded a women’s shooting club in Virginia Beach called Women With Weapons, or W3. It started as a way to create a safe, empowering space where women could teach and support each other, and now – seven years later – it’s grown into a community where women gain confidence, learn self-defense, and sometimes even compete. Not exactly the hobby people expect from me – but I do know my way around a bullseye!
