JCR | How did you hear about court reporting?
MR | From a court show on TV. When I was about 12 or 13 years old, I was watching a court TV show, and I became intrigued with the lady typing fast on a steno machine. I said to myself, “I want to do that job.” I always loved typing and participated in typing competitions through the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) while in high school. I also enjoyed and completed shorthand classes in high school.
JCR | Why did you want to serve on the Board?
MR | To have a seat at the court reporting leadership table, which I believed would provide me the opportunities to serve, protect, promote, and preserve the National Court Reporters Association, its members, and the industry as a whole.
JCR | What’s one thing that people probably don’t already know about you?
MR | I climbed the Great Wall of China.
