The NCRA Engage campaign is well underway, and many members have already started collecting stamps for their NCRA Passport. If you attended the NCRA Conference & Expo in Bellevue, Wash., or watched any of the livestreamed sessions, you are eligible to earn stamps towards rewards. These are just a couple of ways to take part in NCRA Engage. As September kicks off, we’re highlighting more eligible activity categories: Getting involved, content and leadership, professional development, and professional support.
Before we get to those, remember the three required activities every participant must complete: Joining or renewing your membership, updating your profile, and engaging with designated social media posts. The first one is already posted!
Getting involved
NCRA places a premium on an active and engaged membership and facilitates many different avenues for you to be involved. One of the best ways to recruit new members to the profession is through your own testimonials and networks. You can help us grow the ranks of the professions when you do something as small as adding the NCRA A to Z® program Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program link to your email signature. This subtle, meaningful act entitles you to an NCRA Passport stamp, and it also goes a very long way in promoting a program that has been instrumental for so many NCRA members.
Leadership opportunities
Last month we shared how presenting at the NCRA Conference & Expo is an excellent way to show off your skills and expertise with colleagues. The annual Conference isn’t the only place for you to present. The NCRA Learning Center is integral to NCRA’s offerings and provides an array of webinars presented by NCRA members. If you have a great idea for a Learning Center webinar, submit your proposal, and you’ll be on your way to filling your NCRA Passport with even more stamps!
Take an exam within the first 10 days of testing
Don’t wait until the last few days of our SKT and WKT testing periods! According to the NCRA testing department, those who take their test within the first 10 days have higher success rates. We have also rolled out some new upgrades to our online testing platform. Candidates are now offered an easy-to-follow path for each test they take. And a new dual-registration opportunity offers candidates the option to take two back-to-back tests of the same exam type (e.g., two RPR tests) in one testing session during each testing block. Take the stress out of testing and take the exam early! You’ll be rewarded with peace of mind and an NCRA Passport stamp!
Professional support
Give the gift of membership to a current student. It is one of the best ways to pay it forward and show your dedication to a profession that has provided so many with so much. We’ve made it easy for you to sponsor any student, and when you do you’ll get a stamp that will put one step further toward the grand prize.
Other ways to win
Don’t forget the other rewards available through NCRA Engage: Skills Testing Rewards and Webinar Rewards. Right now folks who register for any combination of WKT or SKT testing legs (for a total of five) are eligible to earn one free skills test. You can also earn rewards when you sign up for any of the webinars in the Learning Center. When you purchase seven webinars you are eligible to earn an eighth one for free. Everyone is encouraged to participate in all three opportunities simultaneously. There is no limit on participation.
