The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) encourages members to register for its popular Peer-to-Peer Support group. The next session in this series is happening Nov. 13 from 7:30-9 p.m. Eastern. NCRA President Cindy Isaacsen, RPR, created the support group in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way for peers in the legal profession to come together and find a safe space to connect and share their stressful experiences and emotions.
“I felt like I had no one to talk to about what I was hearing and writing every day,” says Isaacsen. “I realized I just could not be the only one struggling with the emotions I was feeling, and we have an entire profession of people who need encouragement and a place to go to feel supported.”
“The beauty of this program is that people get to leave with a community and get to meet other professionals that are living this exact same thing.”
Bev Perez, group facilitator
The sessions are designed to offer a safe and supportive environment where members can openly share frustrations and challenges, whether they are in a courtroom or working on assignments. “This type of program has been on my heart for a long time,” says Isaacsen, “and I’m so grateful that we have found the right person to help us through difficult and challenging days. This is a chance to connect, feel heard, and support one another in a truly meaningful way.”
What to expect
NCRF’s Peer-to-Peer Support sessions are available to all NCRA members and moderated by certified peer support and grief support facilitator Bev Perez, MSW. Perez is a former police officer who is certified in peer support and has specialized training in traumatic work experiences.
“Don’t feel pressured to have to participate,” says Perez. “This is solely your time to just come, be together, enjoy, and just listen if you want. I know personally the feelings of being pressured and burnt out in my profession. We just want you all to know that this is a time to come together. And most importantly, we don’t want to feel alone in our professions. We want to know that we’re together. So let’s share our stories together.”
Register by Nov. 12 at noon Eastern.
Please be advised that ZoomUp sessions will not be recorded. All discussions will be facilitated by a licensed professional. By registering for a session, participants acknowledge and agree to maintain the confidentiality of shared information and discussions. The NCRF Peer-to-Peer Support series does not provide CEU or PDC credit.
Additional Peer-to-Peer Support Zoom sessions are proposed for 2026. Details will be shared when available.
