Members of the Mississippi Court Reporters Association (MCRA) recently joined Gov. Tate Reeves for the ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 2378, marking a significant achievement for official court reporters across the state.
The legislation increases the appeal page rate for official court reporters, an important step in recognizing the value of the profession and ensuring fair compensation for the critical work court reporters perform within Mississippi’s judicial system.
MCRA President Candace O’Barr-Jones and other MCRA members represented the association at the bill signing and expressed appreciation for the many legislators whose leadership and support helped make the legislation a reality.
The passage of SB 2378 represents a meaningful victory for Mississippi’s official court reporters and reflects the successful advocacy efforts of MCRA and its members. The ceremonial bill signing serves as a reminder of what can be accomplished when court reporters work together to advance the interests of the profession and the courts they serve.
