CART access is at least temporary for California student

A Poway High School student who has a hearing impairment recently learned that an injunction was granted that requires the Poway Unified School District to provide her access to CART captioning in the classroom while it awaits the U.S. Supreme Court to consider an appeal of the case, according to a Jan. 8 post on the San Diego, Calif., site 10News.com. Earlier this fall, senior Delanie Harrington handed over to the school district 1,900 signatures gathered in an online petition, asking officials to provide access to CART services; however, the request was denied. Harrington, who is now a senior, has asked the school district for these services since before she entered as a freshman.
