NCRF reprises popular raffles to support programs

The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) brought back its popular steno machine and evening bag raffles to the 2022 NCRA Conference & Expo in Orlando, Fla. Combined, the two raffles brought in more than $9,000 to help support the Foundation’s programs.

Tricia Rosate, RDR, CRR, a freelance court reporter from San Diego, Calif., won the Luminex II donated by Stenograph and valued at more than $5,000.

Stenograph has donated a new machine for fundraiser raffles to benefit NCRF for the past several years. This year’s raffle began in May and ran through July 24 when NCRA wrapped up its annual Conference & Expo at the Hyatt Regency Orlando in Orlando, Fla. Tickets were available to purchase through NCRF’s MobileCause platform or on site at the Conference; winners did not need to be present to win.

“She was overwhelmed with excitement and delight,” said Cindi Lynch, Stenograph’s training program manager, of Rosate. “Immediately after we left the stage, she told me that she currently uses a Luminex and that she had a Diamante for a backup writer, but that she has been loaning her backup Diamante to a student. Now, having won a new Lumi II, she plans to give the Diamante to that student.”

Rosate also competed in the 2022 National Speed Contest held during the Conference, winning 18th overall, 15th place in Literary, 16th place in Legal Opinion, and 3rd place in Q&A – earning a bronze medal.

A second raffle held by NCRF at the Conference featured a bling Jimmy Choo evening bag donated by NCRF Trustees Tami Keenan, FAPR, RPR, CPE (Ret.), and Early Langley, RMR. The Clutch for a Cause fundraiser raised $1,700 to help support NCRF’s programs. Tickets for the raffle were also available for purchase via NCRF’s MobileCause platform or on site in Orlando; winners did not need to be present to win.

The lucky winner of the clutch was NCRA member Michael Bouley, RDR, a freelance court reporter from Henderson, Nev. “I bought tickets to support the Foundation with the thought it would make a nice gift for someone if I won. And it will!”
