Nominations open for the NCRF Student Intern Scholarship – four $2,000 awards!

The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) is accepting nominations for its Student Intern Scholarship, recognizing high-achieving court reporting and captioning students who have completed the internship portion of their education. Four recipients will receive $2,000 to help power the final stretch into their careers.

NCRF scholarships help students stay focused on skillbuilding by easing real-world costs – think steno writers, software, fees, and more. Judicial, CART, and captioning students are encouraged to apply.

  • School nomination
  • Current NCRA student membership
  • Speed test requirements met
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • Short essay response to the following question (400 words): The court reporting and captioning professions are evolving rapidly. What innovations, strategies, or personal approaches will help you thrive in a changing environment? Explain how these will support your growth, professional involvement, and long-term success.

Deadline: Dec. 5, 2025

Find the application and full submission details on the NCRF Student Intern Scholarship page.

Gillian Hassert

Last year’s scholarship winners included Gillian Hassert, a student at Alfred State College; Natasha Sandoval, a student at Taft College; Liane Hatch, a student at College of Court Reporting; and Danielle Magnicarri, a student at Plaza College.

“The financial costs of becoming a court reporter can be overwhelming, and this scholarship helps bring my goals within reach,” said Hassert, who planned to use her award towards the purchase of a steno writer and software.

NCRF’s scholarships and grants motivate students and professionals to learn, lead, and excel.

Liane Hatch

“I’m continually inspired by how our steno community rallies to support aspiring reporters, and this scholarship is a shining example of that generosity in action,” said Hatch. “This award will help fund the many expenses I’ll encounter as I step into my career.”
