Build your skills, strengthen your voice, and take a stand for the profession at the 2027 NCRA Leadership & Legislative Boot Camp being held March 14-16, 2027, in Washington, D.C. This hands-on program equips state leaders, court reporters, captioners, and legal professionals — from first-time to seasoned advocates — with the tools needed for effective grassroots advocacy. Registration opens Oct. 26.
This year we are moving the host hotel across the river to the Grant Hyatt Washington in Washington, D.C. You’ll be steps from the White House, the National Mall, and Capitol Hill.
What to Expect:
- Skills training: Intensive sessions that teach you the strategies to effectively advocate for your profession in state legislatures and Congress.
- Hands-on practice: Apply your advocacy skills in real-life scenarios while networking with passionate NCRA members.
- Capitol Hill experience: Put your training to the test by advocating directly before your elected representatives and their staff.
“Anyone can make a difference”
As the profession navigates the evolving threat of artificial intelligence and the shifting legislative landscapes, taking an active role in advocacy is essential. Boot Camp provides the tools and preparation members need to meet these challenges head-on.
“My experience at Boot Camp was truly enriching,” said Olivia P. Sherrick, RPR, a reporter from Forty Fort, Pa., who attended last year. “I learned a lot about the challenges that artificial intelligence poses to the court reporting profession. I was also reminded just how important our job as court reporters is in our judicial system. I enjoyed going to Capitol Hill and meeting with the legislative staff, and I think my biggest takeaway was that anyone can make a difference for their profession. I am glad I had the opportunity to do so.”
