Do you know a court reporter or captioner who gives everything to their community without asking for credit? Now is the time to ensure they get the recognition they deserve.
The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) is still accepting nominations for its highest honor: The Jim Bouley Family Lifetime Award for Altruism. Established in 2021 by the Bouley family, this award celebrates those who emulate the legacy of Jim Bouley, a man who embodied to the definition ofa professional, an educator, and a philanthropist.
NCRF is looking for members whose careers have been defined by self-sacrifice. Nominees must be working court reporters or captioners with a minimum of 25 years of experience and a documented history of altruistic behavior that goes beyond the call of duty.

2025 Altruism Award recipient
The 2025 Jim Bouley Family Lifetime Award for Altruism was awarded to Debbie Kriegshauser, FAPR, RMR, CRR, CRC, CLVS, an official court reporter from Dallas, Texas. During the special awards luncheon at the 2025 NCRA Conference & Expo, Debbie was recognized for her tireless volunteerism and her role as a steadfast advocate for the profession.
“Debbie is the epitome of someone who gives her all for others, not looking for reward in return,” wrote Melanie L. Humphrey-Sonntag, FAPR, RDR, CRR, CRC, an official court reporter from Cheyenne, Wyo., in her nomination letter for Kriegshauser
Her impact was echoed by Mark W. Hagood, owner of Q&A Court Reporting in Florence, S.C., who noted that if the NCRA had “100 Debbies,” the Association’s presence would increase ten-thousand-fold.

- Submit the nomination form by May 1.
- Please note that the NCRF requires a new and complete application for each nomination cycle; submissions from previous years do not qualify for the 2026 award.
