Interviewers, stenographers still needed for VHP at the 2023 NCRA Conference & Expo in Houston

The Library of Congress Veterans History Project and the National Court Reporters Foundation are hosting a Veterans oral history project event on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central time. You are invited to sign up to volunteer as either an interviewer or a stenographer to transcribe on site at the Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown.

While several members have already signed up, more member volunteers are needed. Members of Houston’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8790 will be available to share their stories of service and sacrifice.

Since 2003 NCRA members who volunteer their services have worked with NCRF and the Library of Congress to record and transcribe the moving stories of many U.S. veterans and Gold Star Families, building a lasting legacy of the diverse group of men and women who have served our nation.

It is crucial to capture the spoken word from our veterans to help document the impact serving has on individuals, their families, friends, and communities.

Learn more about the Veterans History Project and how stories are shared and captured by viewing local media outlets’ reporting on the two most recent events at the Freedom Museum in Manassas, Va., held in April and February earlier this year with NCRA members and staff.

If you have time on that Thursday during the NCRA conference, please contact Jill Parker Landsman at jlandsman@ncra.org to share your availability. Thank you.
