NCRA to offer next CRI program this September; registration opens July 16

Registration opens July 16 for NCRA’s next offering of the Certified Reporting Instructor (CRI) program designed for current or aspiring teachers of court reporting, but space is limited to 20 spots. The course runs Sept. 10 through Oct. 14.

The CRI curriculum encourages excellence in the educational program that prepares tomorrow’s court reporters. Participants in the five-week, online interactive program will have the opportunity to learn about successful teaching methods, gain insight into the learning process and development of a court reporting course, and focus on classroom management. Upon completion of the inaugural program in January 2024, candidates were pleasantly surprised at the rigor and depth of the course content.

“NCRA’s revamped CRI training program is student-focused and detail-oriented to ensure that our CRI instructors are well-equipped educators in the industry, ensuring student success,” says NCRA Immediate Past President Kristin M. Anderson, M.A., RPR, CRI, FCRR. “I am so proud to have earned this new certification and look forward to utilizing this new skill set in the years ahead.”

In addition to the tried-and-true techniques of teaching, the textbook which follows the course also features fresh concepts in education and a variety of materials that instructors can implement into their own programs to have an immediate impact on their students.

The instructors for the second offering are two NCRA members and court reporting instructors: Kelly R. Moranz, BS, CRI, an associate professor at Cuyahoga Community College in Parma, Ohio; and Jennifer Sati, RMR, CRR, CRC, CRI, program director and instructor for judicial reporting and broadcast captioning at Anoka Technical College in Anoka, Minn.
