Certification press releases continue to put court reporters in the news

NCRA member Shawna Browne of Waldorf, Md., was recently recognized for earning the nationally recognized Registered Merit Reporter (RMR) certification in an article posted online by Southern Maryland Newspapers. The article was a result of a press release issued on Browne’s behalf by NCRA’s communications team as part of its public relations strategy to promote the court reporting profession. The communications team automatically issues a press release template to each successful test candidate. Completed press release templates returned to the team are then distributed to a candidate’s local media outlets, at no charge to the member, via NCRA’s external public relations firm. Feedback from members about the effort has been extremely positive and participation by them has served to increase the number of media hits or placements that showcase NCRA and its members each month. The NCRA communications team also provides press release templates to members, state associations, and court reporting schools, for a number of topics.
