School Spotlight: Arlington Career Institute

Once a month we highlight a different NCRA-approved school. The court reporter programs offered at these schools have met the General Requirements and Minimum Standards established by the Council on Approved Student Education of NCRA. This is a chance for members to get to know these programs and hear from their students and teachers.

Arlington Career Institute (ACI) is a private, family-owned institution founded in 1982. The court reporting program is located in the school’s 60,000-square-foot facility in Grand Prairie, Texas, just outside of Dallas. The school also offers programs for paralegals/legal assistants, medical assistants, administrative assistants, and nursing assistants.

Arlington Career Center offers its court reporting program both in person and online. “The mission of ACI,” says Campus Director Jon Vecchio, “is to improve and enrich career-minded lives by meeting the educational training and workforce development needs of our students and the communities in which they work and always to do what is best for our students. We strive to promote positive learning in the classroom, both on campus and online, and success in the workplace.”

ACI boasts the largest court reporting program in the state of Texas. Their faculty includes RPRs, Texas and California CSRs, and closed captioners. “ACI offers a robust, well-rounded program that takes our students from the classroom to the courtroom or freelance reporting with confidence in their ability to get the job done,” adds Vecchio.

Court reporting student Amanda Salisbury is enthusiastic about her experience in the program. “I absolutely love my school,” she says. “I feel like the instructors truly care and want to see us succeed when we leave. I am in the court reporting program and have a long way to go, but I have had to take academics with teachers from other programs, medical and paralegal. I have made many friendships that I know will last forever! If you want to go to school in a specific field and do not want to have to take a bunch of prerequisites, I highly recommend giving ACI a shot!”
