Plan your trip to Louisville now

Registration is still open for the 2024 NCRA Conference & Expo happening Aug. 1-3 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky. Regular rates for all packages apply through June 30 after which on-site rates go into effect. See registration page for details.

Whether you have already registered or you do it today, here is some helpful information to make the most of your trip to Louisville.

Plan your trip

Book your hotel room* early to take advantage of the NCRA discounted room rate! Newly renovated and in the heart of the museum district and the city’s cultural center, the Galt House Hotel is the city’s only waterfront hotel. Members are reminded to book early as the discounted hotel block is filling up quickly.

And now let’s get to the good stuff! Louisville, otherwise known as Bourbon City, is home to the Kentucky Derby. If you plan to come early or stay late to get to know the city a little better, here are a few things you may want to add to your schedule.

Churchill Downs, Kentucky Derby

Enjoy a different kind of speed at the Kentucky Derby Museum with a 30 minute historical walking tour of Churchill Downs Racetrack and two floors of museum exhibits where you can see Derby fashions over the years, watch every Derby race dating back to 1918, learn the history of African Americans in horse racing, and see a replica of Churchill Downs’ famous Winner’s Circle. Also included in admission is a showing of the museum’s epic 18-minute film about the Kentucky Derby, “The Greatest Race.”

Need a taste of the area? Check out the Urban Bourbon Experience with more than 10 distilleries in the area open for public tours and tastings. And if you want more, the Urban Bourbon Trail offers 35 bars and restaurants with more than 60 bourbons and bourbon-inspired culinary delights.

Belle of Louisville, Riverboat

Step back in time on board the Belle of Louisville, the last remaining authentic Mississippi River-style steamboat left in the world! Or see the River City onboard the Belle‘s sister vessel, the Mary M. Miller. The Belle offers live local music and a diverse menu including vegetarian options.

Louisville Slugger Museum

Love baseball? Make a plan to check out the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory where you can see how baseball bats are made (and perhaps purchase a personalized one). The factory supplies bats to most of the Major League Baseball teams.

If you’re bringing the kids, there’s plenty of family entertainment, too: a children’s theater, a zoo, an amusement park, and confectionaries. Take your pick and plan your time to suit your style.
