2025 CASE and NCRF A to Z Scholarship winners announced

NCRA’s Council on Approved Student Education (CASE) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 CASE Student Scholarships. CASE offers five scholarships each year. The top prize of $1,500 is the Sue Shelton White Scholarship. Four additional scholarships are available in the amounts of $1,000, $750, $500, and $250. To be eligible to apply, students must currently be attending an NCRA-approved court reporting program, have an exemplary academic record, and have passed one Skills Test writing 160 wpm or higher at the time of submission. In addition, applicants must submit an essay on a topic chosen by CASE.

This year’s essay prompt was: How do you achieve professionalism and ethical conduct in the technological, artificial intelligence, and social media age? 

Michelle Domonique from Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Gweneth Sachs from Metuchen, N.J., a student at Plaza College — $1,000  
  • Julia Antignani from Howard Beach, N.Y., a student at Plaza College — $750
  • Vanessa Valdez from Commerce City, Colo., a student at Plaza College — $500
  • Danika Litzenberger from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a student at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology — $250

The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) also recently announced the 2025 winners of the NCRF A to Z® Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to students who have completed an NCRA A to Z Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program and are enrolled in a court reporting program. Qualified applicants also must have passed a Skills Test writing between 60 and 160 wpm among other eligibility requirements.

The NCRF A to Z Scholarship program awards 15 scholarships at $750 each supported by generous donations from NCRA members. The 2025 recipients of $750 each are:

  • Chi Sun Chen from Brooklyn, N.Y., a student at Alfred State College
  • Jozlyn Melvin from East Syracuse, N.Y., a student at Alfred State College
  • Kristen James from Blue Springs, Mo., a student at the College of Court Reporting
  • Esther Felt from Plano, Texas, a student at the College of Court Reporting
  • Anna S. from Montgomery County, Md., a student at Cuyahoga Community College
  • Chelsea Moss from Yorba Linda, Calif., a student at Cypress College
  • Sandi Jordan from Iowa Park, Texas, a student at Allison Hall Reporting Education
  • Stephanie Block from Auburndale, Fla., a student at the Hardeman School of Court Reporting
  • Jordan Nolan from Arlington, Mass., a student at Lakeshore College
  • Jamie Colman from Forked River, N.J., a student at Macomb Community College
  • Kathleen Milani from London, Ontario, Canada, a student at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology
  • Elina Lankios from Brooklyn, N.Y., a student at Plaza College
  • Steven Hedge from East Greenbush, N.Y., a student at Plaza College
  • Veronica Kim from Jackson Heights, N.Y., a student at Plaza College
  • Crimson Elizondo from Uvalde, Texas, a student at San Antonio College
