2026 Court Reporting & Captioning Week: It’s a wrap

Proclamations, recognitions, celebrations, education, and lots more fun were all part of NCRA’s 2026 Court Reporting & Captioning Week observance Feb. 7-14.

Members took to social media to share their pride and creativity ranging from customized t-shirts to steno machines and shared their love for the court reporting and captioning professions with the hashtag #CRCW2026.

The Indiana Court Reporters Association shared this clever graphic of the stenographer’s keyboard along with a guide to which key combinations represent which letters.

NCRA member Rowan Bribht, RMR, CRR, an official court reporter from Madison, Wis., posted the following: “Court Reporter and Captioner Week!! I celebrate my profession every day, but this week I love that it’s highlighted a bit more. I love my career. I love the people I’ve met, the friends I’ve made, and the opportunities I’ve had. I spent this week in a jury trial doing realtime for my judge. Providing realtime is one of the many highlights of court reporting. Not a moment goes by where I’m not in awe of how talented and amazing us stenos are!!!

Please hug your friendly neighborhood court reporters when you see them!”

Meanwhile, across the pond NCRA member Leah Willersdorf, RMR, CRR, celebrated the week by setting up an Instagram account for the British Institute of Verbatim Reporters. She also created a feature post about her work at the International Court of Justice at the Peace Place. In a note to NCRA staff, the freelance court reporter and CART captioner who works throughout Europe added: “It’s my ABSOLUTE PLEASURE to help celebrate CRCW. I don’t think I could ever not! I adore our profession. I love the theme this year, too, of PEACE, LOVE & STENO.”

Social events filled up calendars

A number of social events were held across the country in celebration of 2026 Court Reporting & Captioning Week, including in Florida where members of the state court reporters association were asked to share an invitation to anyone they know to celebrate the week with a Zoom meet-and-greet held midweek. Participants were encouraged to grab their snacks and favorite beverages and join in the informal session to learn more about the profession, meet local court reporters and captioners, and ask questions about the industry, technology, and career paths.
